                  Welcome to the Bay Area Rugby Club

    Bay Area is seeking a new coach!!

After 5 seasons as head coach Dan Gazda is stepping down. This leaves the club without a head coach. Please read the ad below and pass it along to anyone that may be interested in the position.


The gentlemen of the Bay Area Rugby Club are looking for a motivated, knowledgeable head coach to volunteer his time and expertise to the continued development of Bay Area and rugby in the USA. We are a Division 2 men's club playing out of the Clear Lake area of SE Houston for the last 35 years. Bay Area has a tradition of excellence, advancing to the Division 3 National Championship Tournament three years ago and finishing 3rd in the Texas Division 2 this year. Bay Area has also had several players selected for the Texas & Western Select sides in recent seasons.

Coaching Duties Include:

  • Organize two practices per week
  • Advance individual, small group, and team skills and techniques
  • Develop new players
  • Oversee game day strategies
  • Incorporate general fitness drills

Training sessions during the 15's season are Tues. & Thurs. 7:30 –9:30 from Sep-Apr with 2-3 Saturday games per month.

Bay Area Rugby Club is a premier Division II Club in the Houston and Clear Lake metropolitan area. BARC is a member of USA Rugby and is affiliated with the Western and Texas Rugby Unions. The club has a proud tradition dating back to 1973,  and most recently, they were crowned 2006-2007 DIII Texas and Western Rugby Union Champions.  If you'd like to be part of the BARC tradition, contact one of our officers or stop by one of our training sessions.



Sevens Season Begins!

Bay Area  7's seaosn starts on 04/08/09. Practices are set to begin at 7:00 PM at the UHCL practice pitch (map)

Bay Area vs. Corus RFC - 05/16/2009 - La Porte, Texas

Corus RFC will be traveling from Wales to the Lone Star State in May. While here they will play in San Antonio as well as Bay Area. Not only will this be a fun and entertaining game by hosting the Corus team from across the pond, this will be Bay Area's first night game since moving to the La Porte pitch.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM come out and enjoy the action.

Banquet Date Set

The Annual Awards Banquet is set for May, 30th. The location is yet to be determined. More details coming soon.

Bay Area Finishes Season 6-4

The men of Bay Area closed out the season at 6-4 and will not advance to the playoffs this season. The team is now looking to the off-season and 7's season. The team has a great core of talent and will look to improve their record in the TRU next season. 


Bay Area vs HARC II - 03/28/2009 - Houston, Texas

Bay Area will close out it's season this weekend against the men of HARC. The men hope to end the season on a positive note, but will unfortuantely miss out on the Western playoffs this year.

A friendly match is in the works against the Wales Corus team on May 16th. Keep an eye out for more details.

Also the HS team has more games this season. Be sure to make it out and support the new team.
