Bay Area Rugby Club is a premier Division II club in the South Houston suburb area of Clear Lake. BARC is a member of USA Rugby and is in the Western Territory & Texas Local Unions. The club has a proud tradition dating back to 1974 and most recently they were crowned the 2006-2007 Div. III Texas & Western Rugby Union Champions. If you would like to be part of the BARC tradition contact one of our officers, or feel free to drop by one of our training sessions. Everyone is always welcome.
A short year and a half after their first victory in April 1977 the ruckers made their first international sojourn. They reached the finals of the Bordener's Invitational Rugby Tournament in Windsor, Ontartio. The team lost a clos game to the Lusaka Leapards, a rugby club from Lusaka, Zambia. The club has always had an international flavor, and looks to get back overseas again in the near future.

And of course don't forget to remember Yoshi Seuoka and visit his memorial page

THE REST IS HISTORY......BARC PRIDE!!
In November of 1974 two men, one a displaced Yankee and the other a native Texas son, answered and ad. They found this ad in the program of the Annual Lone Star Invitational Rugby Tournament in Houston, Texas. These two men Bob Zimmerman and Al Gonzales helped the writer of the ad, Walk Conaway, form the nucleus of the Bay Area Rugby Club. For more than a year they were essentially the entire club. In fact, it wasn't until the late spring of 1976 that the team was able to participate in a game without having to rely on heavily on walk-ons and borrowed players. From that inauspicious beginning the club has grown into a well respected organization that has friends around the state, nation, and world.
